Entomology, Effective Fly Patterns and Efficient Strategies

Dave Parker’s presentation focuses on the intersection of three major themes.  First, an overview of basic entomology relating to hatches and tips on how to identify what the trout are feeding upon.  Second, fly patterns which effectively mimic these hatches.  And third, efficient strategies for fishing these small patterns, including dry-dropper set-ups, presentation, and the value of sight fishing.

In the early 1980's, Dave’s flyfishing career started in southwestern Virginia with smallmouth bass in large rivers.  He is now a professor in environmental sciences at UC Riverside.
